MCA and MIC Allocated Seats for Negeri Sembilan State Election

Kuala lumpur: Barisan Nasional (BN) has announced the allocation of seats for the upcoming 16th Negeri Sembilan state election, with MCA set to contest in seven State Legislative Assembly seats and MIC in four. BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed the distribution strategy. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister, emphasized that the seat distribution was strategically planned based on the anticipated success of candidates within their respective constituencies. He shared insights into the process, noting, "I met with all the prospective candidates who signed the undertaking and also swore allegiance to me as the BN chairman." The announcement came after Ahmad Zahid held a meeting with potential BN candidates at Wisma UMNO Negeri Sembilan. He further mentioned that such undertakings are a common practice for state elections, by-elections, and general elections. Ahmad Zahid is expected to reveal the official list of BN candidates at a sch eduled event at Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman Paroi later tonight. The Election Commission (EC) has laid out the timeline for the election process, with nomination day on July 18, early voting on July 28, and polling day on August 1. Reflecting on the previous 15th Negeri Sembilan state election, BN secured 14 seats, while Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional won 17 and five seats, respectively.
