Seremban: The Seremban City Council (MBS) sealed and disposed of 1,183 abandoned vehicles last year, said its Mayor Datuk Masri Razali. He explained that the majority of these vehicles were discarded after being left abandoned for more than five years, with numerous complaints about them becoming an eyesore.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MBS received 608 complaints last year alone regarding abandoned vehicles in residential areas and public places. The Mayor urged vehicle owners to avoid leaving their vehicles in public areas, warning that action could be taken against them under the Street, Drain and Building Act 1974. Vehicles not claimed could be disposed of as scrap under this act.
Furthermore, under the Road Transport Act 1987, vehicles in good condition but left in public places can also be confiscated to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Residents with complaints or suggestions for MBS are encouraged to use mbseremban.spab.gov.my, the Aplikasi Respon Rakyat, which is available for free download, or call 06-7654444.
