MBPP Demolishes 11 Building Structures, Including Food Stalls, Built Without Permission

Penang: Eleven structures including food stalls run by foreigners that were built without permission were demolished by the Penang City Council (MBPP) in an integrated operation conducted in the Barat Daya area yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MBPP, in a statement today, stated that the operation was conducted in collaboration with the police, Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang (PBA). The 11 structures were demolished because they were built without permission and did not comply with the Roads, Drains and Buildings Act 1974.

“Work to clean the debris at the site was carried out immediately by the officers of the Municipal Services Department to avoid any inconvenience and for the safety of the public,” according to a post on MBPP’s Facebook today.
