Cyberjaya: Homegrown pizza chain US Pizza has officially entered the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for having the "Most Halal Certified Local Pizza Outlets" in the country.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the recognition was presented during a ceremony at the DPULZE Shopping Centre in Cyberjaya, attended by media representatives, key opinion leaders, business partners, suppliers, vendors, and fans. The event also featured radio host, DJ, entrepreneur, and former minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who took on the role of guest store manager for the day.
US Pizza chief executive officer Deric Yeo stated that the MBOR recognition was based on the chain's commitment to 100 percent halal certification across all its outlets. He noted that this standard reflects the company's respect for all Malaysians. "We don't do this because we have to. We do this because every Malaysian deserves to eat with peace of mind, which is a responsibility and respect. That is what homegrown brands should stand for," Yeo said in the statement.
Yeo also addressed a common misconception that US Pizza is an American brand, emphasizing its local origins. He stated that the company is 100 percent Malaysian, born and built locally, as a local brand for local people. He expressed gratitude to the chain's suppliers and vendors, acknowledging them as the backbone of the company's success, and credited their quality ingredients and trust for where the company stands today.
Looking ahead, Yeo revealed plans to expand the chain's footprint further while maintaining its halal certification and local identity at the core of its business operations. He expressed appreciation to various stakeholders, including the Malaysian Franchise Association chairman Datuk Dr Radzali Hassan, the company's directors, business partners, suppliers, vendors, media friends, key opinion leaders, and most importantly, the fans of US Pizza.
During the event, fans of US Pizza and Khairy participated in interactive games with key opinion leaders to win prizes and fresh pizza. Supporters cheered them on amid a lively atmosphere as Yeo tossed dough and served pizzas straight from the oven. Khairy commented on his participation, saying he has always believed in supporting homegrown brands and that US Pizza is truly Malaysian. "Today was about rolling up my sleeves and having fun with fans, and the pizza was delicious," he remarked.
