Maxis Supports Sustainable Growth in Kampung Sayap with Christmas Initiative

Kota belud: Maxis, in collaboration with Hopes Malaysia, has undertaken an initiative to uplift the Kampung Sayap community in Kota Belud, Sabah, through festive engagement and support for sustainable, community-based income generation initiatives.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Christmas celebration held at the Kampung Sayap open hall brought together over 250 villagers, who participated in various activities, including a communal luncheon. Maxis announced that it contributed sustainable agricultural materials and equipment designed to support Kampung Sayap's agricultural sector. This initiative aims to benefit approximately 80 families, enhance food security, and provide long-term impact to the community.

Furthermore, Maxis organized an 'eKelas Usahawan' workshop for 45 women and youths from the community, aiming to enhance their skills and guide them in effectively marketing products in the digital marketplace. The telecommunications company also distributed Hotlink SIM packs to ensure villagers remain connected.

Maxis chief corporate affairs officer Azizul Abdul Rahman highlighted that the contributions are expected to bolster the community's sustainable agriculture efforts and equip local entrepreneurs with the necessary digital skills to succeed in the future.

Ezra Sadok, a representative from Hopes Malaysia, expressed appreciation for Maxis's contributions and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to empower local communities further. Hopes Malaysia is a Sabah-based NGO focused on breaking the cycle of rural poverty in Kota Belud through long-term sustainable solutions.
