Maxis Spreads CNY Cheer To The Elderly With Generous Donations

Temiang: Maxis Berhad continues to spread Chinese New Year cheer by donating money packets and essentials to 100 senior citizens in Temiang here. Its Chief People and Transformation Officer, Patrick Er, highlighted that these contributions showcase the company’s ongoing commitment to alleviating burdens, particularly for the elderly during festive seasons.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Er expressed the company’s honor in sharing happiness with the residents, describing the initiative as a way to strengthen the bond between company employees and the public. He noted that Maxis aims to assist not only urban communities but also those in rural areas. The theme for this celebration, “With every little moment shared, togetherness grows,” seeks to encourage the public to connect with their loved ones, emphasizing that sharing even the smallest moments can bring people closer together. This statement was made following the recent event where the contributions were handed over.

The event saw the presence of Temiang state assemblyman Ng Chin Tsai and more than 30 Maxis employees. Er elaborated on Maxis’s intention as a telecommunications company to connect all communities, allowing them to experience the joy of festive seasons and further strengthen friendships. He added that Maxis plans to host similar events annually, not only during Chinese New Year but for other celebrations across the country, aiming to share joy with more communities.

In addition to aiding those in need, Er mentioned Maxis’s focus on education to support people’s digital needs. Their Maxis eKelas programme aims to improve academic performance for students in rural areas, while the eKelas Usahawan initiative equips micro and small entrepreneurs with digital marketing skills to help expand their businesses.

Ng Chin Tsai expressed appreciation to Maxis for their generosity and urged more parties, including corporate bodies, to initiate similar programmes. Liw Saw Yin, a 77-year-old recipient, shared her happiness with the contribution and acknowledged the company’s concern for the elderly, stating that this was her first time receiving such a donation.
