Kuala lumpur: The Maxis Scholarship Programme 2025, designed to support promising Malaysian students in their pursuit of higher education, is now open for applications until Sept 12. Maxis, in a statement today, said the programme reflects the company’s commitment to nurturing talents who will spearhead the nation’s digital aspirations and help build an artificial intelligence (AI)-ready workforce.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme, previously open only to first-year undergraduates, has been expanded this year to include second-year undergraduates and postgraduates between the ages of 18 and 23 enrolled in recognised higher education institutions in Malaysia. The scholarship provides financial support covering both tuition fees and living expenses. Scholars will also have opportunities for internships and job placements with Maxis upon graduation, subject to meeting academic and programme criteria.
Maxis Chief People and Transformation Officer Patrick Er stated that as Malaysia’s leading integrated telecommunications company, Maxis is committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders through the scholarship programme. He emphasized that the programme combines crucial financial support with practical industry exposure to develop the nation’s future talents.
Aligned with the 13th Malaysia Plan’s emphasis on AI readiness, this initiative aims to prepare scholars to excel professionally and become key contributors to Malaysia’s digital transformation. Patrick Er highlighted Maxis’s belief that “Tomorrow Begins Today,” as the company empowers young Malaysian talents to shape the nation’s digital future.
Maxis reiterated that the programme continues to prioritise Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields, and related disciplines that are critical to Malaysia’s digital transformation. Eligible fields of study include Engineering (Network, Telecommunications, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic); Technology (AI, Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Technology); Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science; as well as Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
To date, Maxis has supported 349 students through the scholarship programme.
