Kuala lumpur: Maxis Bhd (Maxis) has introduced Malaysia’s first Quantum Safe Networking (QSN) solution for government agencies and businesses, marking a significant milestone as the first telecommunications provider in the country to offer this advanced security capability.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Maxis announced that the QSN solution is available through Maxis Business, its business-to-business (B2B) division, in collaboration with Nokia. This managed service encrypts data directly at the optical layer, securing critical information against potential future quantum computing threats and enabling businesses to thrive in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies.
The QSN solution provides quantum-safe encryption for data in transit, addressing the pressing “harvest now, decrypt later” threat, where data intercepted today could be decrypted by future quantum computers. Maxis emphasized that the solution caters to industries with stringent data integrity and sovereignty requirements, including banking and financial services, healthcare, and the public sector.
Prateek Pashine, Maxis’s chief enterprise business officer, highlighted that the company is setting a new benchmark for network protection, offering government agencies and businesses the assurance needed to advance their digital transformation initiatives. “This demonstrates our commitment to fortify Malaysia’s digital resilience, in line with the national cybersecurity agenda,” he stated.
Maxis further noted that QSN adds a future-proof security layer to its fibre connectivity services, which is particularly beneficial for enterprises, cloud providers, and financial institutions that rely on data centre interconnects and high-capacity fibre links. The QSN solution also complements Maxis’s Data Centre Connect solution, providing secure, private access to major cloud providers and data centres nationwide for businesses operating across physical, hybrid, or multi-cloud environments.
