Maxis Becomes First Telco To Migrate Mission-Critical Workloads To AWS Malaysia Region

Kuala lumpur: Maxis Berhad (Maxis) has successfully migrated its mission-critical workloads to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Malaysia Region, making it the first telecommunications provider in the country to achieve this milestone. This significant move marks a new era for Maxis as it aims to enhance digital experiences for its users.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the migration includes 100 per cent of the company's digital workloads, such as the Maxis and Hotlink applications, which serve millions of users nationwide. Hosting these workloads locally has reduced latency, resulting in faster response times and a smoother experience for its customers.

Maxis Chief Information Officer Ng May Ching stated that the move secures the company's data within Malaysia's borders while improving operational efficiency. "This ensures our infrastructure is resilient and future-ready to support the nation's digital agenda,' she said.

The transition was led by Maxis' internal cloud engineering team, showcasing the technical expertise developed since the company began its cloud journey with AWS in 2016. This internal migration not only highlights Maxis' capabilities but also positions it to assist other Malaysian businesses in addressing data sovereignty requirements.

Maxis Chief Enterprise Business Officer Prateek Pashine emphasized the importance of this achievement in reinforcing the company's ability to guide other Malaysian enterprises. Meanwhile, AWS Malaysia Country Manager Hussein Mohd Ali remarked on the strengthened partnership between Maxis and AWS, noting the potential for Maxis to lead other businesses through their cloud transformations.

Maxis' role as an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner and AWS Direct Connect Partner in Malaysia positions the company to provide expert guidance, helping businesses build, optimize, and integrate secure, high-performance cloud connectivity.
