MATTA Targets More Than RM250 Mln Sales At 57th MATTA Fair

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) aims to achieve more than RM250 million in sales during the upcoming 57th National MATTA Fair, driven by the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) and a surge in intra-ASEAN travel demand.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MATTA president Nigel Wong stated that the RM250 million sales figure has traditionally been the benchmark for each fair. However, the September edition is anticipated to gain further momentum, bolstered by the government’s push for the VM2026 campaign and strong regional interest.

“We are a little more optimistic this time because of the renewed enthusiasm for ASEAN travel and increased interest in domestic packages. Many exhibitors are also introducing new and creative products which we believe will drive spending, particularly in the local travel segment,” Wong mentioned during a press conference.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) will return as the official Airline Partner and Premier Sponsor at the MATTA Fair, scheduled from September 5-7 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). MAG’s chief commercial officer of airlines, Dersenish Aresandiran, expressed that the partnership would enable the airline group to strengthen its share in both outbound and inbound markets, while supporting the country’s broader tourism agenda.

Aresandiran highlighted that outbound travel continues to show strong double-digit growth, and inbound demand is also on the rise. The fair will offer a wider variety of choices and packages, with Malaysia Airlines providing attractive fares and added conveniences such as a 20kg baggage allowance even at the lowest tier.

With Malaysia chairing ASEAN this year, MAG is focusing on regional destinations like Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, where demand has been particularly robust. Aresandiran also teased more exciting developments to be shared at their press conference on September 5, emphasizing MAG’s commitment to enhancing travel comfort, flexibility, and value while connecting people seamlessly across the region.

He further mentioned that MAG will offer exclusive deals and share its vision of the future-a digital, artificial intelligence-powered, premium airline experience. MAG’s booths at the fair will showcase a futuristic travel concept, reflecting its ambition to be among the world’s top 10 airlines by 2030, while also promoting VM2026 and encouraging people to explore, connect, and experience Malaysia.
