MATRADE to Lead Malaysian Contingent to Gulfood 2025 to Boost F&B Exports

Dubai: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will lead 90 local companies and four government agencies’ participation in Gulfood 2025, held from Feb 17-21 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MATRADE stated that this initiative highlights Malaysia’s strategic focus on expanding its food and beverages exports and strengthening its presence in the global halal market.

Gulfood, recognized as the world’s largest annual food and beverage trade exhibition, offers a vital platform for Malaysian businesses to connect with international buyers, form strategic partnerships, and showcase their high-quality products and services.

MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican emphasized that the involvement of these companies in the event will aid in expanding their market reach and contributing to the nation’s export goals. He pointed out that Malaysia’s processed food exports to the Middle East and North African (MENA) region rose by 3.8 per cent year-on-year to RM2.32 billion in 2024 from RM2.23 billion in 2023.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) remained Malaysia’s top export destination in the MENA region, accounting for 33.3 per cent of total exports. Exports to the UAE surged by 37.3 per cent year-on-year to RM773.2 million in 2024 from RM563.3 million the previous year.

Reezal highlighted the upward trend and the UAE’s strategic role, noting the increasing global demand for Malaysian processed food and the country’s stronger position in the international food and beverage market. He expressed confidence that Malaysia’s participation in Gulfood 2025 would significantly enhance its global presence in the sector and drive growth.

MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz noted that the event offers Malaysian exhibitors direct access to key decision-makers and potential partners. With MATRADE’s support through tailored business matching programs and market intelligence briefings, companies can maximize their exposure, build strategic connections, and achieve substantial export growth.

The Malaysian exhibitors will present a broad range of food and beverage products, including sauces, pastes, spices, condiments, frozen food, ready-to-eat meals, snacks, beverages, dairy products, Halal-certified items, and organic products.

MATRADE added that the participation of four government agencies will supply valuable resources and expertise to Malaysian exporters, facilitating their access to international markets and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
