Kuala lumpur: Yuskhairul Yusof, better known as ‘Mat Korro,’ stole the spotlight with a fearless performance after knocking out Thailand’s Mohama Arsuwan Mamingbakor, also known as ‘Iwan,’ in the semi-final of the MFN International Mega 8 Pro Muaythai last night.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the stylish victory not only avenged his previous defeat to the same opponent but also booked the 39-year-old’s place in the MFN International Mega 8 final, scheduled to be held at Arena of the Stars, Genting Highlands on Dec 6.
Yuskhairul stated that the advantage of facing the same opponent for the third time gave him the opportunity to read Iwan’s moves and cover his weaknesses more effectively. ‘Alhamdulillah, the result of my hard work. From the start, I saw Iwan was hesitant to move forward. So I tried to unleash a kick, and when he wanted to cling, I pressed forward and the KO landed perfectly,’ he said in a statement today.
Regarding the final against young national talent Ahmad Hafizi Muhlisom, 23, he stressed that his main focus will be on his own game plan without underestimating his opponent’s abilities. ‘In addition, I will also be competing in several other tournaments leading up to December. So I need to stay sharp and make sure I am at my best,’ he said.
