Kuala Lumpur: The Masyair Cleanliness Campaign, initiated in 2017 for Malaysian pilgrims, will persist this Haj season as an educational effort to encourage pilgrims to uphold the cleanliness of the Masyair area, encompassing Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, highlighted the commendable track record of Malaysian pilgrims in maintaining the cleanliness of these areas, which has consistently been acknowledged by the Saudi Arabian government, notably the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Saudi Arabia Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Tawfiq Fawzan Al-Rabiah, praised the Malaysian pilgrims’ efforts, remarking in a speech that if all pilgrims followed the Malaysian example, he could rest easy. This statement was made during a programme with haj pilgrims at the Abraj Al Tayseer Accommodation Building, where the Masyair Cleanliness Programme 1446H/2025M was officially launched.
Dr Mohd Na’im noted that Dr Tawfiq Fawzan’s comments underscore the Saudi Arabian government’s trust and appreciation for the ongoing efforts by Tabung Haji (TH) and Malaysian pilgrims to maintain cleanliness during the haj pilgrimage. He emphasized that the campaign serves as a model for other nations to follow, expressing hope that Malaysian pilgrims will continue to set a high standard for cleanliness this year.
This year’s campaign extends to all seven Malaysian Haj Accommodation Buildings (BPJH) in the Holy Land, including the new facility at Abraj Al Tayseer. Dr Mohd Na’im expressed pride in the discipline and culture demonstrated by Malaysian haj pilgrims, urging the 2025 pilgrims to sustain the excellent cleanliness record and set a benchmark for others.
