Masai:Police seized 23,000 litres of diesel and five lorries valued at approximately RM949,160 during Op Taring Landai in Taman Kota Puteri yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation was conducted by the Johor Marine Intelligence Unit following public reports of alleged misuse of subsidised diesel. The operation commenced around 1145 am.
An initial inspection of two lorries on Jalan Penaga revealed diesel stored in rectangular tanks at the rear of the vehicles. This discovery led officers to a local man, whose questioning resulted in the location of three additional lorries parked nearby.
The detained 50-year-old man is suspected of acting as a distributor. Investigations suggest the operation had been running for about two months. The seized lorries include two Isuzu, two Hino, and one Mitsubishi Fuso, along with 24 rectangular tanks, two electric pumps, and hoses.
The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961. The suspect and all seized items have been handed over to the Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry for further action.
