Marine Police Seize 11kg Of Syabu In Semporna

Sabah: Sabah Region 4 Marine Police Force (PPM) seized 11.06 kilogrammes (kg) of drugs suspected to be syabu worth over RM550,000 in the waters off Kampung Terusan Hujung, Pulau Bum Bum near here early today. Sabah Region 4 PPM Commander ACP Ahmad Amri Abd Rahman announced that the seizure occurred at 1.45 am following intelligence reports on drug trafficking activities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the operation led to the detection of a speedboat linked to the trafficking. As officers approached the vessel, a man on board jumped into the sea and escaped towards the shore. Upon inspection of the boat, authorities discovered 11 packages containing substances believed to be syabu.

ACP Ahmad Amri stated that the overall value of the seizure, including the speedboat, exceeded RM578,000. The incident is currently under investigation pursuant to the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. He also noted that the Sabah Region 4 PPM has handled 15 cases under this Act this year, resulting in 24 arrests and seizures with a cumulative value of more than RM718,000.
