Melaka: The management of GiatMARA Alor Gajah is set to summon all parties involved in an alleged bullying incident, including the victim, to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted. This follows a directive from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, who has instructed GiatMARA CEO Ahmad Hamdi Ibrahim to address the situation immediately.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, initial investigations suggest the incident originated from an inappropriate joke among trainees during their industrial training in welding technology and metal fabrication at GiatMARA Alor Gajah. Dr Asyraf emphasized that there would be no tolerance for bullying in any form within MARA institutions.
Dr Asyraf Wajdi stated that bullying has no place in any MARA educational institution, which includes a broad range of colleges and universities under MARA’s purview. He reiterated that both MARA management and its educational institutions are fully aware of his stance on the matter, and assured that strict action would be taken against any found guilty of misconduct or bullying.
The incident came to light after a two-minute video surfaced on social media, showing a man alleging that a trainee with learning disabilities had been bullied at GiatMARA Alor Gajah. The video, which has since gone viral, depicts the victim being struck in the face with a white object while lying on the floor and includes an account from a man who expressed disbelief upon hearing the victim’s story at a badminton court.
