Kuala lumpur: The policy of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) in safeguarding and protecting Bumiputera interests must remain intact regardless of changes in the country's political leadership, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today. He emphasized that MARA's policies should not be altered arbitrarily whenever there is a change of government.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed concerns that when the MARA chairman or the minister responsible for Bumiputera affairs changes, the policies often change as well. He stressed the importance of maintaining consistent policies to continue safeguarding the interests of the Bumiputera population. Ahmad Zahid made these remarks during a community engagement session at the Gemencheh Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM).

Also present at the session were MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Community Development Department (KEMAS) director-general Datuk Mohd Hanafiah Man. Ahmad Zahid further stated the necessity of amending the MARA Act 1966 to ensure ongoing protection of Bumiputera interests. He mentioned plans to table amendments to the MARA Act in the Dewan Rakyat by the end of the year, anticipating approval within two months.

In addition, Ahmad Zahid called on parents to encourage their children residing outside Negeri Sembilan to return home to participate in the upcoming state election. He urged families to make the most of the available time to ensure their civic duties are fulfilled.
