MARA Aims for Three Bumiputera Companies to be Listed on Bursa Malaysia in 2024

Kuala lumpur: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has set a target to list three Bumiputera companies on Bursa Malaysia next year, according to Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang. This initiative is part of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35), which aims to bolster high-potential Bumiputera companies for market expansion and enhance their global competitiveness.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative aligns with the MARA Strategic Plan 2026-2030, aiming to increase the number of Bumiputera entrepreneurs on Bursa Malaysia. Rubiah Wang emphasized that while identifying companies is just the first step, there are higher expectations for their success. She mentioned that Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd is set to be listed, highlighting the growing skills and capabilities of local automotive entrepreneurs.

Rubiah reiterated MARA’s commitment to enhancing Bumiputera participation and leadership in the sector, aiming to produce more successful entrepreneurs. She also
announced that the MARA Automotive Ecosystem 2025 (MATEC2025) event will return for its third series next year, promoting collaboration between Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera companies.

MARA has demonstrated that Bumiputeras are not just consumers but also key players in an industry worth RM80 billion annually. Rubiah highlighted the significance of new investments, such as the BYD electric vehicle factory in Tanjung Malim and the involvement of over 2,000 Bumiputera automotive entrepreneurs in Malaysia’s automotive industry value chain.

MATEC 2025, themed “Charge the Hype,” aimed to attract over 104,100 visitors and featured 200 exhibition booths. Six strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Memoranda of Agreements (MoAs) were signed with key industry partners to strengthen the talent and business supply chain. This year’s event marked a significant increase in confidence compared to MATEC 2024, which recorded 26,550 visitors and RM16.6 million in sales. The 2025 edition anticipates a total of over 1
04,100 visitors and potential sales transactions of RM50 million.
