Johor bahru: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) is ambitiously targeting RM1 billion in sales over the next five years through its 'Gate to Global' programme, which is designed to enhance the international presence of products created by Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MARA chairman Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki emphasized that the programme currently involves 176 Bumiputera entrepreneurs. The initiative seeks to ensure that locally produced goods are competitive not just within Malaysia but also in global markets. Dr. Asyraf highlighted that MARA's strategy has evolved beyond mere financing to include guiding, monitoring, and providing market access to entrepreneurs for business growth.
Dr. Asyraf elaborated that MARA's current focus is on the internationalisation of entrepreneurs. The Johor Entrepreneurs Gathering is part of this broader agenda, aiming to contribute to Johor's development goals for 2026-2030. He stressed the importance of Bumiputera entrepreneurs' active participation in the Maju Johor agenda, with MARA ready to support them not just financially but also through guidance and monitoring.
He also noted that one of the most effective methods to boost entrepreneurs' business performance is through business matching sessions. These sessions facilitate strategic collaboration among entrepreneurs at different development stages. MARA acts as an umbrella organization, with MARA Corp driving these collaboration efforts.
Dr. Asyraf further stated that MARA is prioritizing the international distribution of products developed by its entrepreneurs. This includes a collaboration with the LuLu supermarket chain in Arab countries, securing approval for 342 stock keeping units (SKUs) with a market value exceeding US$100 million. This partnership provides entrepreneurs under MARA's mentorship with shelf space in the Middle East, thus expanding opportunities for local products in the region.
Regarding the MARA TVET Roadshow Programme in Kluang, Dr. Asyraf mentioned it was the 108th series out of a nationwide target covering 191 parliamentary constituencies. He also clarified that Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi attended the programme in his official capacity as Menteri Besar.
