Kota Bharu: Police have confirmed that there was no political element in the case of the man who allegedly uploaded a video insulting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on TikTok, intending to stir public tension and boycott the Aidilfitri MADANI celebration at Pantai Irama, Bachok, on April 12.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that investigations revealed the suspect’s actions were personally motivated and unrelated to any political parties. “The suspect, a 25-year-old man working at a petrol station, acted independently based on emotions and personal views,” he said. Authorities are awaiting the final report from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission before proceeding to court, with charges expected next week.
The media reported yesterday that police detained a suspect who had uploaded a video insulting Anwar on TikTok. Bachok police chief Supt Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin noted that the video contained offensive language, inappropriate nicknames for the prime minister, and accusations of Anwar deceiving the public at the event.
