Langkawi: A man suffered burns to his face, hands, and legs after he was caught in a flash fire while cleaning a boat at the Sungai Itau fisherman's jetty.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Langkawi Police Chief ACP Khairul Azhar Nuruddin reported that the incident occurred at 7.20 pm when the 35-year-old victim was working on the vessel. The fire ignited after sparks erupted from the battery and boat pump.

The fire quickly engulfed the victim who was inside the boat. At around 7.45 pm, a nearby friend of the victim heard a sound resembling an explosion and rushed to the location.

Upon reaching the scene, the friend discovered the victim with burns to his face, hands, and legs. Khairul Azhar stated that the injured man was immediately taken to Sultanah Maliha Hospital in Langkawi by his friend for medical treatment.
