Semporna: A man suffered burns to his arm while a hotel restaurant here was completely destroyed in a fire this afternoon. Semporna Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Zainal Sinsian reported that the injured individual was taken to Semporna Hospital by the hotel management for medical treatment. The fire also resulted in damage to approximately 20 percent of a nearby hotel building due to the heat.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Zainal Sinsian stated that upon their arrival, the hotel restaurant was already engulfed in flames and was completely destroyed. The nearby hotel building suffered partial damage, estimated at 20 percent, due to the intense heat. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control within about an hour by conducting operations from both land and sea to prevent further spread.

The fire station received an emergency call at 12.47 pm and arrived at the site by 12.52 pm. A total of 29 personnel, including 10 from the water firefighting unit, were involved in the operation, which concluded at 4.11 pm. The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are currently under investigation.
