Seremban: A man was killed in an accident while putting up flags for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election campaign on the Jalan Kuala Sawah-Rantau, near Kampung Belangkan, yesterday afternoon.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Yatim Osman stated that the incident occurred at about 6.40 pm. The victim, aged 34, was on the road shoulder heading towards Rantau for flag installation work when the accident happened. Initial investigations revealed that an unidentified lorry hit a signpost before crashing into the victim, who was along the roadside.
The collision resulted in the victim sustaining severe face and head injuries, leading to his death at the scene. The lorry driver is believed to have fled the scene, and efforts are underway to track down the vehicle and the driver involved.
Meanwhile, Mohd Yatim urged members of the public with information regarding the incident to contact the investigating officer, Insp Nor Fadzilah Mohd Zainuddin, at 019-4611794 or 06-6033222, or visit any nearby police station to assist with the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and further investigations are ongoing.
