Man Injured in Fire That Destroyed Eight Food Stalls in Skudai

SKUDAI: A trader sustained burns to his left hand in a fire that destroyed eight food stalls in Taman Sri Puteri, Skudai, this afternoon. The incident prompted a rapid response from local fire services, who managed to control the blaze after several hours of operation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the fire department received a distress call at 4:44 p.m. Senior operations commander, Assistant Senior Fire Superintendent Saiful Bahari Safar, reported that 17 firefighters were dispatched to the scene from the Skudai, Iskandar Puteri, and Larkin fire and rescue stations. The teams arrived with two Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT), a Compact Fire Rescue Tender (CFRT), and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.

Upon arrival, the firefighters found that eight food stalls and a Yamaha R15 motorcycle were engulfed in flames. The fire severely damaged the first seven stalls, with 90 percent destruction, while the eighth stall was 50 percent destroyed. The motorcycle was almost entirely burned, with 95 percent damage recorded. The injured trader received first aid on-site from EMRS personnel.

The firefighting operation concluded at 7:05 p.m., with authorities managing to prevent further damage and ensuring the safety of the area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
