Man Injured After Being Slashed By Brother In Durian Orchard Dispute

Paya terubong: A 65-year-old man was seriously injured after allegedly being slashed by his younger brother at an orchard house in Paya Terubong, Air Itam, on Sunday. Timur Laut District Police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad reported that police were alerted to the incident by a member of the public at 3.50 pm, prompting an immediate investigation at the scene.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, initial investigations revealed that the victim had visited the durian orchard and discovered damage to several items in the orchard house. He allegedly suspected his brother was responsible for the damage. The confrontation between the victim and the suspect escalated into a verbal argument, during which the suspect allegedly took a machete and slashed the victim three times before fleeing the scene.

The victim sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Penang Hospital. Based on information received, police managed to arrest the 62-year-old suspect at approximately 6.30 pm on the same day, found behind the orchard house.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days until June 28 to assist with investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code and Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994.
