Man Drowns After Boat Overturns During Fishing Trip in Kampung Lancang

Kampung Lancang: A 21-year-old man was discovered drowned after a boat he was on, during a family fishing trip, overturned in the river in Kampung Lancang, Merlimau. The incident occurred earlier in the day, and after a four-hour search operation, the man’s body was found.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, Mohd Farid Abu Bakar, reported that the body of Nur Fitri Abdul Razak was located at 2.21 pm, roughly 50 meters from where he was last seen. The strong river current had entangled the victim in roots or vines at the riverbed. His body was retrieved at 2.40 pm, shortly after being found, and was subsequently taken to Hospital Jasin.

The victim’s family members, including his brother Abdul Razak Abdullah, 42, his wife Azizah Hussain, 35, and their 10-year-old son Muhammad Nor Abdul Razak, were successfully rescued from the incident. A coordinated search and rescue operation involved 22 members from the Merlimau and Jasin Bistari fire and rescue stations, along with support from the police, the Health Ministry, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, and the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department.
