Accra:Kampung Tasek A man was believed to have been bludgeoned to death with a hammer by his mentally ill younger brother in an incident at Kampung Tasek. The victim, Mohd Nasir Ismail, aged 43 and the eldest of nine siblings, succumbed to severe head injuries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the victim's mother, Hasnah Sulong, was in the living room when she heard screams and sounds of a struggle. She immediately called her husband, Ismail Ibrahim, who was outside at the time. Upon entering the house, Ismail found their son Nasir covered in blood with severe head injuries.
Hasnah said her second child, Affendi, who is 42 years old and has a history of mental health issues, is suspected to be involved in the incident. Another sibling, Rurazmiza, aged 36, sustained back injuries after attempting to stop the altercation and was struck with the hammer.
Hasnah, who is a stroke survivor, recalled a similar incident 12 years ago when her husband was stabbed by the same son. Despite this, the family continued to care for and live with Affendi.
Marang District Police Chief Supt Saari Mohamed confirmed the incident.
