Penang: Police detained a Chinese national on suspicion of attempting to steal a passenger's wallet during a flight from Jakarta, Indonesia, to Penang today. Southwest district police chief ACP Anuwal Ab Wahab stated that the 55-year-old man was arrested at Penang International Airport following a report from a 36-year-old Indonesian man about the incident.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, during the flight, the Indonesian passenger witnessed the suspect removing his bag from the overhead compartment, opening it, and taking his wallet. The passenger managed to record the incident before notifying the cabin crew. As a result, the suspect was detained to assist in the investigation, and all of the victim's belongings were recovered without any loss or financial damage.

Further investigations are ongoing, and the case has been classified under Section 379 and Section 511 of the Penal Code for attempted theft.
