Baling: A 65-year-old woman lost her life, and her 80-year-old mother sustained injuries following an attack by the woman's grandson in Kampung Baru Bakai, Malau. The incident unfolded yesterday, raising serious concerns in the community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Baling police chief Supt Brandon Richard Joe reported that the Malau police station was alerted by the public about the situation at 7 pm. The suspect, a 21-year-old man with an intellectual disability, was detained by the police at 7.50 pm after being brought in by concerned citizens. He has no prior criminal record and confessed to the stabbings at the scene.

The deceased's body was transported to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar, while the injured victim was taken to Kulim Hospital. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Baling Sessions Court today for a remand application. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
