Man Arrested for Murder After Allegedly Claiming Father Fell

Seri kembangan: A man who initially claimed that his father had sustained injuries from a fall has been apprehended for murder following the father's death. The 40-year-old had brought his 76-year-old father, who was semi-conscious, to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz on January 19, asserting that the elderly man had fallen multiple times at their home.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the medical team at the hospital discovered injuries inconsistent with a fall, suggesting instead that they were caused by a blunt object. This prompted the medical officer to report the incident to the authorities. Following the report lodged at 9:30 pm on the same day, police arrested the son at the hospital's lobby.

Serdang police chief ACP Muhamad Farid Ahmad stated that the case was initially investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code. However, upon the father's death on January 22 due to a head injury caused by blunt trauma, the charge was upgraded to murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The suspect, who has a history of 11 prior criminal records, has been remanded until January 30. He has tested negative for drugs.

Authorities are calling on anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to the nearest police station or contact the Serdang Police Headquarters at 03-8074 2222.
