Man Arrested For Molesting Woman In Balik Pulau Market

Balik Pulau: The police have arrested a local man, 55, on suspicions of molesting a woman at Balik Pulau market here at 9.55 am yesterday. The incident has raised concerns among the local community regarding safety in public spaces.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Barat Daya district police stated in a press release that the suspect was apprehended at his residence in Titi Teras at 4 pm on the same day. This quick action followed a report filed by the victim, who alleged that she was molested while at the market.

The complaint highlighted that the woman became aware of the molestation when she felt a man touch her from behind. The incident did not go unnoticed as it was witnessed by two other women present at the scene. The presence of witnesses could prove crucial in the ongoing investigation.

The suspect is currently being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which deals with assault or use of criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty.
