KLANG: A man has been arrested for impersonating a police officer and robbing a foreign family in Meru, Klang. The suspect allegedly entered the victims’ residence, claimed to be a police officer, and demanded a payment of RM4,000 to prevent their arrest.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the victims, feeling threatened by the situation, surrendered two gold rings and a mobile phone to the 23-year-old suspect. After acquiring the items, the suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle, which has yet to be identified by type and registration number. A police report was promptly filed at 1:24 a.m.
The suspect was apprehended along with the stolen items and is currently being held in custody for six days to assist in the ongoing investigation. The case is being investigated under Sections 392 and 170 of the Penal Code.
Klang Utara district police chief ACP S. Vijaya Rao urged the public to remain cautious and warned against falling victim to individuals posing as police officers to commit crimes.
