Man Allegedly Claiming Prophethood Arrested in Rawang by JAIS

Rawang: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has apprehended a 65-year-old man in Rawang for allegedly proclaiming himself as a Prophet. He was detained alongside three other individuals, including two men and a woman, at the same location.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JAIS director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad stated that preliminary investigations disclosed that the man allegedly informed his followers of having personal encounters with Prophet Adam AS during the day and Prophet Muhammad SAW in the form of light at night. These alleged meetings reportedly occurred two to three times a week, beginning two to three years ago at a national park within the country.

Mohd Shahzihan highlighted that the followers of the accused claimed he was a messenger of Allah, adhering to his directives as divine commands. These included instructions that exempted them from performing prayers or fasting if they felt fatigued or unwell.

The arrest was conducted under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995 for engaging in acts related to Islam that contradict Islamic law. Moreover, action was also initiated under Section 8 of the same enactment for allegedly declaring himself a Prophet and claiming knowledge beyond human understanding.

Mohd Shahzihan further mentioned that this arrest is anticipated to resolve a complaint that gained attention on February 9, which accused the individual of claiming prophethood and influencing his family.
