Sepang:Kuala Lumpur Malaysia's successful hosting of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2026 highlights the country's unity and cooperation among its diverse population as key strengths in achieving international success, stated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that the smooth execution of the prestigious sporting event was a result of the dedication of thousands of volunteers, civil servants, and F1 personnel who collaborated effectively.
Anwar expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to the successful running of the event, noting that the teamwork displayed embodies the spirit of 'segulai sejalai' (unity), which enables Malaysia to achieve international recognition. This acknowledgment came as he prepared to present the Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat.
The 2026 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, which took place from October 2 to 4, marked Formula 1's return to Sepang after a nine-year hiatus, with the last race held there in 2017.
Additionally, Anwar pointed out that the same spirit of unity was reflected in Malaysia's performance at the 20th Asian Games. The national team equaled its best-ever medal tally, with athletes from various ethnic backgrounds contributing to the achievement, demonstrating the country's collective strength.
Malaysia concluded its participation in the 20th Asian Games with a total of nine gold, seven silver, and 16 bronze medals. Gold medals were secured in events such as squash, karate, e-sports, sepak takraw, and track cycling.
