Malaysia’s Strategic Strengths Propel Economic Resilience and Competitiveness

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia possesses three key strengths that can ensure the country remains resilient and competitive, says Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Steven Sim Chee Keong. He identified these strengths as political stability and a conducive environment, a strategic geographical position, and strong human capital within the country's multiracial society.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sim emphasized that political stability and strong national leadership are crucial for investor confidence and economic growth. Malaysia's strategic geopolitical and geoeconomic position also provides an advantage in strengthening international trade and investment ties. He elaborated on these points while speaking at the Bisnes Sinar Harian Awards (BISA 2026), organized by Sinar Harian, an event also attended by Karangkraf chairman Firdaus Hussamuddin and Sinar Karangkraf chief executive officer Farah Hussamuddin.

Sim further highlighted the importance of Malaysia's multiracial population, who are proficient in various languages and understand diverse global cultures, as a significant asset. 'In a world beset by various crises, many things are beyond our control. However, Malaysia has three key 'ingredients' that enable us to continue to succeed,' he stated, underlining the nation's potential to be a central hub globally.

Additionally, Sim praised Sinar Harian for organizing the awards, viewing it as an important recognition of local entrepreneurs' capabilities. He noted the initiative as a significant step, particularly for Malay entrepreneurs, in acknowledging their contributions across different sectors.

During the event, Andalusia Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd was honored with the BISA 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award. In total, 37 awards were presented, including the Global Logistics and Maritime Leadership Award, the Entrepreneur Development Leadership Award, and the Jury's Choice Award.

Firdaus Hussamuddin expressed that BISA 2026 served as a tribute to local entrepreneurs who have shown remarkable resilience and spirit amidst current economic challenges. He remarked, 'Sinar Harian has stood for two decades as a consistent voice highlighting issues, the pulse and aspirations of the people, including entrepreneurs nationwide.'
