Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s palm oil exports are expected to increase by 2.4 per cent to 17.30 million tonnes in 2025 from 16.90 million tonnes in 2024, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MPOB director-general Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir stated that the commodity’s export revenue is projected to grow by 9.8 per cent to RM120 billion in 2025 from RM109.33 billion in 2024. He expressed optimism about the current demand and market conditions, particularly in Indonesia, during his presentation at the Palm Oil Economic Review and Outlook Seminar (R and O) 2025.
CPO production is expected to rise by 0.3 per cent to 19.5 million tonnes in 2025, with palm oil stocks predicted to decrease by 6.4 per cent to 1.60 million tonnes from 1.70 million tonnes in 2024. The average CPO prices are projected to range between RM4,000 per tonne to RM4,300 per tonne in 2025, attributed to tighter global supply.
Ahmad Parveez highlighted the impact of Indonesia’s B40 biodiesel mandate, which is expected to reduce global palm oil supply for export. The growing demand for biodiesel in the United States is also anticipated to tighten global vegetable oil supplies.
He further mentioned that the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities and its agencies will continue to collaborate on addressing environmental concerns while promoting economic stability and social responsibility within the industry. This collaborative effort aims to foster a more sustainable and balanced future for the palm oil sector.
