Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s April palm oil exports experienced a notable increase of 9.62 per cent, reaching 1.10 million tonnes, up from March’s 1.01 million tonnes, as reported by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MPOB’s April 2025 industry performance report highlighted a significant climb in crude palm oil (CPO) production, which rose by 21.52 per cent, equivalent to an increase of 298,531 tonnes, totaling 1.69 million tonnes from the previous month’s 1.39 million tonnes. Palm kernel output also saw a substantial rise of 21.42 per cent, amounting to 409,097 tonnes in April, compared to 336,921 tonnes in March.
The report further detailed that crude palm kernel oil production increased 17.82 per cent to 176,644 tonnes from 149,923 tonnes, while palm kernel cake output improved by 11.70 per cent to 192,857 tonnes from 172,651 tonnes. CPO stockpiles saw a notable rise of 34.83 per cent, reaching 1.05 million tonnes in April compared with 779,391 tonnes a month earlier.
Processed palm oil inventories grew by 3.99 per cent to 814,673 tonnes, up from 783,426 tonnes in March. The total palm oil stockpiles increased by 19.37 per cent to 1.87 million tonnes from 1.56 million tonnes.
Palm kernel oil exports surged by 77.02 per cent to 99,691 tonnes in April from 56,315 tonnes in February. Palm kernel cake exports increased 14.52 per cent to 140,833 tonnes from 122,977 tonnes, while oleochemical exports grew by 5.90 per cent to 221,806 tonnes from 209,449 tonnes a month earlier. Biodiesel exports saw a significant improvement of 57.81 per cent, totaling 23,589 tonnes from 14,947 tonnes.
No crude palm oil imports were recorded in April, although palm kernel oil imports edged up by 12.69 per cent to 14,287 tonnes from 12,678 tonnes in March.
