Malaysia’s Firm Stance on West Asian Conflict Draws International Attention

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia remains steadfast in its independent and sovereign position to speak the truth on the international stage, even when it challenges major world powers, declared Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This was particularly evident in Malaysia's stance on the West Asian conflict, specifically concerning the United States-backed Israeli assaults on Iran.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister shared that in a discussion with Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian, gratitude was expressed towards the Malaysian federal government and Parliament for their condemnation of the Israeli and U.S. attacks, and for supporting Iran's right to freedom. Anwar extended condolences over the loss of several key religious leaders, military personnel, and schoolchildren in Iran, highlighting the lack of global outcry when such tragedies occur in Islamic countries.

Anwar emphasized that Malaysia is actively supporting negotiations to resolve the crisis resulting from the Israel-U.S. assaults on Iran. This support is extended through close cooperation with nations such as Pakistan, the Gulf states, and Turkiye. However, he cautioned that any peace talks must address the root causes of the conflict and not merely demand Iran's surrender, underscoring the actions of the Zionist regime as a primary factor.

The Prime Minister also noted the strong cross-party solidarity in Malaysia against the injustices, which has been acknowledged by the Iranian President. He urged the public to monitor global energy crisis developments resulting from the West Asian conflict, warning that the economic ramifications will persist even if peace is achieved.

He referenced comments by the Emir of Qatar on the damaged gas infrastructure in Qatar, suggesting that while limited operations may resume by the year's end, it will take at least a year to reach minimum capacity and three years for full operations to resume.
