Malaysia’s ANPR Toll System Surpasses Three Million Transactions

Accra:The country's first Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)-based toll payment system, developed by JustGO Solutions Sdn Bhd, has achieved a significant milestone by recording over three million transactions. This progress marks a crucial step toward the full implementation of the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system under real traffic conditions.

According to JustGo's statement today, this achievement is supported by JustGO's availability at 93 toll plazas and 966 lanes nationwide, enabling registered highway users to enjoy the #Lane Freedom initiative, which uses vehicle license plate numbers as the basis for toll payments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JustGO user Victor Lee Wei Han expressed that the system provides drivers with more flexibility. He noted that JustGO addresses the common issue of congestion at toll plazas caused by lanes designated according to specific payment methods, allowing drivers to switch lanes and avoid long waits.

The ANPR technology facilitates automatic toll payments through linked debit or credit cards, eliminating the need for additional devices, registration fees, or separate balance top-ups. Another user, Amirul Hakim Roslan, highlighted the convenience of JustGO's open payment method, which allows drivers to choose any lane without worrying about payment methods.

JustGO also took the opportunity at an exhibition's panel session to discuss essential aspects of a digital toll ecosystem, including infrastructure readiness, application availability, and the establishment of clear legal frameworks.

Highway users can enjoy this payment convenience by registering through the JustGO app, which is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Huawei AppGallery, and using it once the ANPR status is activated.

The capabilities of the payment system were also showcased through the #Lane Freedom model exhibition at the MyASEAN Roads and Traffic Tech Expo (MyARTTE) 2026, which was inaugurated by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from September 30 to October 2.
