Malaysians Urged to Delay Umrah Travel Due to Security Concerns

Riyadh:Malaysians are advised to temporarily postpone their travel to Saudi Arabia for umrah following heightened security concerns after a deadly missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, stated Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Foreign Minister emphasized that although there have been no incidents in Makkah, the recent attack in Riyadh has led the government to recommend deferring non-essential travel to Makkah and Madinah.

The attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in 12 fatalities and 309 injuries, as reported by Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation. The casualties included citizens from Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan.

It was also reported that no Malaysians were killed or injured in the attack on Saturday or in the incident involving a projectile near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
