SUNGAI GOLOK: A 24-year-old Malaysian man has been apprehended by authorities in Sungai Golok, southern Thailand, on charges of drug trafficking. The arrest, which took place on December 30, uncovered various narcotics with an estimated street value of RM120,000.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Sungai Golok district police chief, Colonel Jadsadavit Ingprapan, reported that the suspect is suspected of being part of an international drug smuggling syndicate. During the operation, law enforcement officials seized 1,943 ecstasy pills and 1,510 eramin 5 pills, along with other illicit substances found at the location.
Colonel Jadsadavit stated that the suspect would be presented before the Narathiwat Regional Court for temporary detention, and a urine sample has been procured for testing at Sungai Golok Hospital. He also mentioned that investigators are delving into the origins of the narcotics and scrutinizing the suspect’s background for any previous drug-related offenses in Thailand.
The police chief highlighted that this operation represents one of the most significant drug seizures by Thai authorities. He referred to another major bust in early November when 6,000 Yaba pills were confiscated, involving six Malaysians, including a female singer.
