Malaysian King Urges Armed Forces to Stay Equipped with Latest Defence Technology

Kuala lumpur: The increasingly challenging and uncertain global political landscape necessitates that the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) remain ever ready and equipped with the latest defence technology to face any eventuality. His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, emphasized this need, highlighting the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict and the prolonged unrest in Gaza as indicators that international laws are no longer sufficient to safeguard global peace.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the King stressed the importance of readiness and technological advancement in the MAF while officiating the commissioning parade and presenting appointment letters to MAF cadet officers at Kem Perdana, Sungai Besi. His Majesty pointed out the uncertainty in identifying friends and foes, urging for constant preparedness.

Sultan Ibrahim also cautioned the government against political interference and supplier influence in defence procurement processes. He underscored the necessity for MAF leadership to maintain integrity and avoid corrupt practices, asserting his zero-tolerance stance towards any abuse of position for personal gain.

Expressing concern over the misuse of social media by military personnel, the King warned against sharing sensitive information online, particularly details relating to troop deployments and unit locations. He referenced the Iran-Israel conflict as an example of how easily information can be exploited through technology and social media to launch attacks.

His Majesty congratulated the 509 cadet officers who completed their training, reminding them of the sacrifices, strength, honesty, and loyalty required in a military career. He urged them to be disciplined leaders who effectively train and care for their personnel, and he expressed gratitude to the parents who entrusted their children to serve in the MAF.

The ceremony saw the attendance of key figures including Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin, Chief of Defence Forces Gen Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar, Army Chief Gen Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, Navy Chief Admiral Tan Sri Dr Zulhelmy Ithnain, and Air Force Chief Gen Datuk Muhamad Norazlan Aris.
