Malaysian King Plans Inaugural Visit to Russia in August

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim is considering a historic visit to Russia this August, marking his first trip to the country. This information was disclosed by the Deputy President of the Senate of the Dewan Negara, Senator Nur Jazlan Mohamed, during a meeting with Grigory Karasin, a prominent Russian senator for foreign affairs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the announcement was made on Tuesday, with Mohamed expressing optimism about the visit, stating, “God willing, the King of Malaysia will visit Russia in August.” This visit is anticipated to strengthen diplomatic ties between Malaysia and Russia.

Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who oversees energy and water resources, is also expected to visit Russia at the end of June. This potential visit underscores the growing engagement between the two nations, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as energy and environmental resources.
