Malaysian Immigration Department Intensifies Monitoring in Janda Baik

Janda Baik:The Malaysian Immigration Department is intensifying its enforcement and monitoring activities in response to concerns from residents about the involvement of foreigners in local economic activities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban stated that enforcement efforts are ongoing. He highlighted a recent operation conducted on April 24, during which 38 individuals were detained from 82 checked across eight locations for various offences.

Zakaria explained that foreigners are attracted to Janda Baik due to job opportunities and the thriving local economy, particularly in the tourism sector, which includes resorts and accommodation facilities. He warned that this could result in illegal employment and housing arrangements that breach immigration laws. Violators may face action under the Immigration Act 1959/63, including Sections 55B and 55E.

He acknowledged the valuable cooperation of local residents and community associations in providing information about potential immigration law breaches. The department is committed to maintaining vigilant monitoring and effective enforcement to combat these violations.
