Kuala lumpur: Malaysia will host the 21st edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2025) from Sept 17 to 20 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) announced that five French buyers from the food and beverage and fashion sectors will participate in the showcase through the MIHAS International Sourcing Programme (INSP). Their participation highlights the growing global recognition of halal certification as a mark of quality, traceability, and ethical assurance for consumers worldwide, regardless of faith.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to France, Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, emphasized that MIHAS is more than just a trade event, describing it as a global platform for innovation, sustainability, and quality. He noted that halal certification is increasingly recognized worldwide as a value-based system ensuring safety, cleanliness, and integrity, appealing to all consumers. He expressed delight in the strong French participation this year, as Malaysia continues to build bridges across halal economies and create new opportunities for global partnerships.
Sebastien Chan Yik Sing, Economic Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Paris, stated that MIHAS serves as a strategic gateway beyond Malaysia to the broader ASEAN market, which comprises over 680 million people. He mentioned that French buyers can leverage MIHAS not only to source quality halal products but also to connect with the fast-growing ASEAN market via Malaysia’s trusted and well-established halal ecosystem.
MATRADE reported that MIHAS recorded RM4.3 billion in sales and attracted over 43,000 visitors last year, and the 2025 edition aims to achieve RM4.5 billion in sales. Organised by MATRADE under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), MIHAS is one of the world’s largest halal trade exhibitions, involving participants from over 90 countries.
The upcoming 21st edition, themed ‘Pinnacle of Halal Excellence,’ will incorporate cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) tools through the MADANI Digital Trade (MDT) platform to enhance real-time sourcing, matchmaking, and trade connections.
