Malaysia To Deepen China Market Presence At CAEXPO 2026

Malaysia: Malaysia is set to strengthen its trade presence in China through the participation of 67 Malaysian companies at the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) 2026, as it seeks to tap growing trade opportunities and expand market access for exporters.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the participation will be coordinated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and is scheduled to take place from September 17 to 21 at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre (NICEC) in Guangxi, China.

MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Indera Abu Bakar Yusof highlighted that CAEXPO provides Malaysian exporters with a direct platform to engage key buyers, understand evolving consumer demand, and strategically position high-value offerings. He stated, 'Through CAEXPO 2026, MATRADE remains dedicated to helping our local enterprises convert these engagements into tangible and sustainable commercial outcomes.'

MATRADE emphasized that the participation would also enable Malaysian companies to connect with buyers, distributors, and business partners while strengthening their visibility and competitiveness in the China and ASEAN markets.

China has been Malaysia's largest single trading partner for 17 consecutive years since 2009, underscoring the market's strategic importance to Malaysia's trade and export growth. Trade with both China and ASEAN maintained strong momentum in the first seven months of 2026. Trade with China rose 33.4 per cent to RM391.60 billion, with exports increasing 24.3 per cent to RM127.87 billion. Trade with ASEAN grew 23.7 per cent to RM552.23 billion, driven by a 20.3 per cent increase in exports to RM315.67 billion.
