Kuala lumpur: Malaysia emerged as the overall winner of the Malaysia International Challenge 2025 after securing two titles at the Perak Arena Badminton, Ipoh, Perak today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia captured the mixed doubles and men’s singles titles but missed out on a third in the men’s doubles. The unseeded pair of Tan Zhi Yang and Nicole Tan continued their fine form by defeating Indonesia’s Kenzie Yoe and Luna Rianty Saffana in the final of the mixed doubles with scores of 16-14, 15-10 in just over 30 minutes. The Malaysians had earlier beaten the top Indonesian duo, Zaidan Arrafi Awal Nabawi and Jessica Maya Rismawardani, on their way to the final.
The men’s singles final was an all-Malaysian affair between Eogene Ewe and Jan Jireh Lee. Eogene, 20, fresh from his Slovenian Open triumph, lost the first game 8-15 but rallied to win 15-7, 15-13.
In the men’s doubles, second seeds Muhammad Faiq and Lok Hong Quan went down 7-15, 9-15 to Japan’s top seeds Keiichiro Matsui and Katsuki Tamate in 26 minutes.
