KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has underscored Malaysia’s significant diplomatic advancements and economic achievements in 2024, attributing them to strategic international engagements and visits from global leaders.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that Malaysia has emerged as a respected strategic partner on the global stage, gaining recognition for its proactive stance on international issues, such as advocating for Palestinian justice and promoting a balanced world order. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Malaysia is set to lead ASEAN into a more inclusive and sustainable era by 2025, bolstered by strong international support.
In a Facebook post, Anwar shared a video reflecting on his extensive official visits in 2024, which included stops in Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, China, Australia, Russia, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Japan, India, Peru, and Brazil. These diplomatic efforts have attracted potential investments totaling RM115.2 billion (US$25.2 billion), with significant contributions from Germany (RM46 billion), South Korea (RM32.8 billion), Australia (RM24.5 billion), Japan (RM1.45 billion), and India (RM4.8 billion).
Moreover, Malaysia hosted 35 official visits and courtesy calls from foreign dignitaries, including representatives from countries such as Cambodia, Argentina, China, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, and Bahrain. These visits have further cemented Malaysia’s position as a key player in global diplomacy and economic development.
