Malaysia: Malaysia is stepping up security cooperation with China and other international partners to intensify efforts to combat transnational crime, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. He emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration to safeguard Malaysia's national security, highlighting the strategic partnership with China. This collaboration was strengthened by a bilateral agreement signed in June 2024, aimed at curbing cross-border criminal syndicates.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin made these remarks at the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) 2026 in Lianyungang, China. This was shared in a post on his official Facebook account today. The three-day forum, which began on Tuesday, is set to conclude tomorrow. Saifuddin highlighted that the 2024 agreement has laid a strong foundation for closer operational cooperation between Malaysia and China. This includes intelligence-sharing, coordinated operations, and joint investigations that are already underway.

Highlighting the tangible results of the partnership, Saifuddin mentioned that Malaysia had investigated 141,000 online scam cases between 2024 and May 2026 through the bilateral mechanism. He reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to international security cooperation, stating that the country would continue to be a reliable security partner to ASEAN member states and the wider global community.
