Langkawi: Malaysia-Russia cooperation in the scientific field and higher education is set to be expanded during the 4th Joint Commission for Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation (JC-ESTC) meeting scheduled for November in Langkawi. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir announced this development via a post on X, highlighting the ongoing partnership since the establishment of JC-ESTC in 2015.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Russian Science and Higher Education Minister will jointly chair the JC-ESTC meeting in 2024. The meeting aims to identify improvements to increase student exchanges between the two countries, enhance lecturer research cooperation, and boost collaboration in commerce, culture, and tourism. These topics were central to Dr. Zambry’s speech at the 16th Russia-Islamic World International Economic Forum, KazanForum 2025, where he addressed the development of cooperation in science and higher education within a multipolar world order.
Dr. Zambry is currently part of the Malaysian delegation accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on an official visit to Russia, invited by President Vladimir Putin. This visit, which began on May 13, concludes today.
